Who we are
President - steven tripp
Steven Tripp is the Founder of Australians for Better Government and now leads the organisation as our elected President. Serious about the issues facing Australia, Steven is an excellent public speaker with the charisma and experience needed to lead an organisation such as ABG.
Throughout his life Steven has always exercised a keen interest in politics and current affairs. It wasn’t until his livelihood was threatened during the response to the COVID pandemic that he decided to enter the political realm actively. In the 2022 Federal election he stood as a candidate in the seat of Warringah.
Since then, Steven has remained politically active, serving on the NSW State Executive of One Nation and later as Secretary of the Condamine branch of the Liberal Party. He is currently independent of any party and all his efforts have been directed at improving the lives of all Australians, making him the natural choice to be President of ABG.
An internationally published political commentator, Steven has also become well-known as the host of a number of popular podcasts in which he has interviewed a host of leading experts, politicians, journalists, and leaders from around the World.
He writes extensively on the subjects of democracy, freedom, and the issues facing us all in our daily lives, and has been published in the Spectator Australia, The Light Newspaper, Caldron Pool, Facts4EU, the Campaign for an Independent Britain, and GB News. Importantly, he spends considerable time away from the office, meeting the public and supporting communities who are engaged in fighting for their local interests.
In addition to his other roles, Steven is a Committee Member of the National Rational Energy Network (NREN) which represents over 100 community groups adversely affected by the rollout of the Government’s Net Zero initiatives.
Steven lives in the Northern Beaches of Sydney and works as an Engineering Surveyor. A family man, Steven and his wife are the proud parents of two small children, both under the age of 3.

COMMITTEE MEMBER - Kevin Loughrey
Kevin Loughrey is a Lieutenant Colonel, who served in the Australian Army for 32 years - 4 of which were on secondment with the British Army.
Kevin also spent 15 years in private enterprise, firstly in senior management appointments within large companies and then he formed his own businesses to pursue interests in computing, engineering and science generally. Over his long career, Kevin has been awarded patents, both in Australia and Internationally, for several inventions.

COMMITTEE MEMBER - Jim Willmott
Jim Willmott is a long-time advocate for rural communities and has spent decades protecting agriculture from biosecurity threats.
In the late 90s, Jim led an emergency response campaign against a series of locust plagues that threatened bumper grain crops throughout Central and Southern Queensland. Jim and his team battled dangerous conditions for 6 months in protecting the livelihoods of many producers and communities. Jim’s engineered strategic response received nationwide coverage and was the first time in history that a Locust plaque had been prevented from occurring.
Jim has played an active role in many community organisations, including Property Rights Australia, a dynamic grass roots organisation that supports the property rights of local communities that are under threat and under represented.
Jim is also a Committee Member of the National Rational Energy Network (NREN), that represents over 100 community groups adversely affected by the reckless rollout of wind, solar and high-voltage transmission line projects across Australia.

COMMITTEE MEMBER - Katy McCallum
Katy McCallum is a dedicated wife and mum who owns and runs the Kilkivan General Store & Café. She resides with her family atop the scenic Black Snake Range, just west of Gympie.
Katy had a 16-year career as a General Duties Police Officer, serving across the Northern Region of Queensland in locations such as Boulia, Doomadgee, Mt Isa, Mornington Island, and Camooweal, before moving to Toowoomba and then on to Murgon.
Katy’s policing career allowed her to excel in problem-solving, helping others, and ensuring community safety. Her time in remote and regional Queensland fostered a deep appreciation for community and the unique fabric of the Australian way of life. It was during these years that she noticed the changes threatening Aussie values.
In January 2018, Katy resigned from the Queensland Police Service and moved to Kilkivan to start a business with her husband. This led to Katy becoming an active member of the Kilkivan Action Group, which is pushing back against various ‘renewables' projects in the Gympie Region.
In the 2024 Queensland State election, Katy ran for the seat of Gympie, achieving 22.1% of the primary vote.
Katy is without doubt a strong, vocal advocate who will never back down from fighting for what is right.
COMMITTEE MEMBER - MARK NEUGEBAUER
Just like many Australian's Mark Neugebauer had focused on his family, paying his mortgage and having enough money to enjoy family holidays once a year, while also looking to give back to the community and society where possible.
All this changed when his livelihood was threatened by the response to COVID. Having done his own due diligence and research, he became extremely concerned by the power the Government and bureaucracy were wielding via declared emergencies, which Mark felt undermined individual freedoms and liberties.
For Mark, it was a rude awakening to the threat that Australia’s Governments can have on our freedoms. More alarmingly, Mark was shocked by the influence International bodies and think tanks had over our politicians.
Undeterred, Mark dipped his toes into the political arena as the candidate for the Australian Federation Party in the South Australian Federal seat of Mayo. This short exposure to the political process helped him discern that being within the political machine wasn't for him.
Instead it made him determined to call out the inefficiencies and shortcomings of the political system and Mark is now looking to assist others to find ways to repair our broken system.
Through his podcast, South Australia in Focus, Mark come across Australians For Better Government through interviews with Kevin Loughrey and Steven Tripp. Aligning with the values and proposals of ABG, Mark is hoping to assist the wider community in starting a movement to create a better future for not just his progeny, but for all future Australian generations.
ABG Patron - councillor adam zahra
Adam Zahra is a Councillor for Campbelltown City Council.
Adam is a family man and small business owner, who has lived his entire life in Campbelltown, where he lives with his wife and three daughters.
Adam was thrust into the political spotlight during the COVID pandemic, when poor leadership and decision making from both State and Federal Governments motivated him to run as a political candidate. This lead to Adam achieving exceptional results as a minor party candidate in Macarthur at the 2022 Federal election and in Campbelltown at the 2023 NSW State election.
Adam built upon the rapport he had built with the Campbelltown electorate when he was elected to Campbelltown City Council as an Independent in 2024.
Adam has accepted the role as Patron for Australians for Better Government as he believes a successful Australia requires solid political structure and strong leadership.
