Australians for Better Government Newsletter 02
The formation of ‘Australians for Better Government Inc.’ (ABG) is a milestone in Australia’s maturity as a liberal democracy.
Today, Australia is not coping well with the rapid changes that are impacting the Western world and its economies. Some would suggest this inability to cope has been in train for many years and that the seeds for this incapacity were sown at the Federation of 1901 and possibly before because of our colonial legacy.
All would agree that an Australia, better governed, would be better able to navigate future challenges which are sure to come. In a more connected world, technology is rapidly advancing; technology that holds great promise but also the possibility of robbing us of our agency, privacy and liberty.
It is against this backdrop that the need for ABG was perceived. ABG believes that many of Australia’s future challenges could be better coped with, at all levels of Government within the Commonwealth, if:
the electoral system was designed to increase the chances of high-calibre persons being elected to public office;
2. there existed:
• a proper separation between the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary, as well as
• an effective bicameral system to guard against ill-considered Legislation becoming law; and
3. Constitutions that, besides specifying the structure and mode of operation of our system of democracy, also emphasised the obligation for Government to be the servant of the people.
We believe that all Australians, regardless of their political affiliation, will be attracted to this initiative which aims, through consensus and imaginative thought, to create a better democracy; one that will efficiently serve the Australian people well into the future.
To be successful in achieving this aspiration, ABG aims to attract like-minded Australians who will, like their predecessors in the 1890’s, and through a series of Constitutional Conventions, give birth to a new Federation: Federation MkII.
For the good of Australia, please join ABG at australiansforbetter.com/join.
Through your participation, you will make a difference!
Many thanks,
Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Kevin Loughrey
ABG President
CAFE LOCKED OUT
Michael Gray Griffith was nice enough to have Kevin Loughrey and Steven Tripp on Cafe Locked Out to discuss Australians for Better Government.
Michael is a brilliant guy and has so much to give. The silver lining of the pandemic is that a lot of heroes rose to prominence and continue to do great work to the present day.
CRAZZFILES
Steven Tripp joined the Crazzfiles Podcast for a lengthy discussion on Australia Day, Australians for Better Government and his analysis why it would be a miracle if Peter Dutton’s Coalition can win the upcoming Federal election.

Please note that provision of a flag or flags is subject to each Parliamentarian’s annual budget for office expenses and their own internal policies, and the number of flags available may be limited which may mean prioritising particular individuals.
