Australians for Better Government Newsletter 03
I need to start by acknowledging the contributions to ABG by Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Loughrey.
Earlier this month, Kevin resigned as President of ABG to focus on his upcoming election campaign.
As you can appreciate, running for election is a demanding and time-consuming exercise; and like everything, Kevin will no doubt put his heart and soul into it.
Kevin has been the intellectual powerhouse behind the proposals formulated for ABG. Kevin harboured may of these proposals and reforms prior to ABG’s existence and they have provided the bedrock to our formation.
I wish Kevin the best of luck and support for his upcoming election campaign and I have no doubt he will continue to play a major role within ABG going forward.
I also need to acknowledge the Committee, who have put their faith in me by electing me as President. We have built a good team and we are all volunteers who give up our time from our busy schedules because we believe in this movement.
We have built a strong Membership base and people are receptive to our message. After all, Australians deserve better Government.
If you haven’t already, please join ABG at australiansforbetter.com/join.
Through your participation, we will make a difference!
Many thanks,
Steven Tripp
ABG President
press release:
ABG CALLS FOR UNANIMOUS SUPPORT OF SENATOR BABET’S PROPOSED ALTERATION TO ENSHRINE FREE SPEECH IN THE CONSTITUTION
To the right is the press release we distributed this week, calling for all Australian Senators to back Senator Ralph Babet’s proposal for a referendum to enshrine free speech in the Constitution.
Pressure needs to be applied, as it is likely Senator Babet’s proposal will be resisted based purely on party politics. Senators will not want to support a bill proposed by the United Australia Party.
We believe this is contrary to the Senate’s role of being the ‘House of Review’. Senators should be reviewing bills based on the merits of the legislation and the interests of their constituents, rather than what benefits their political party. This is why ABG calls for Party affiliation to be banned in the Senate. It is unnecessary.
We encourage all our Members to write to Senators, encouraging them to support Senator Babet’s proposal. It is sad to think that any Australian Senator could vote against such an important referendum proposal.
The question of whether to enshrine free speech in the Constitution should be decided by the Australian people, not politicians.
LIVE ON 89.3FM THE PULSE
I had a great discussion with BJ Gregory and Michael Andjelkovic in Liverpool this week on their radio show 89.3fm The Pulse.
We discussed my political background, problems with political parties, the importance of the Australian Flag and of course, Australians for Better Government.
Check this one out!

AUSTRALIAN Flag - FREE FLAG CAMPAIGN
The Australian National Flag can be obtained free of charge by contacting the electorate office of your local Senator or Member of the House of Representatives.
This is an initiative of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, which Australians for Better Government completely supports.
Find out more here:
https://www.pmc.gov.au/resources/australian-flags-booklet/free-issue-australian-flags
We believe that all Australians should take advantage of this initiative and send a message to our Parliamentarians that Australians support Australia Day and we want to celebrate our Country.
Find the email contact for your local House of Representatives or Senate Parliamentarian here
Please note that provision of a flag or flags is subject to each Parliamentarian’s annual budget for office expenses and their own internal policies, and the number of flags available may be limited which may mean prioritising particular individuals.
Australians for Better Government thrives from people like YOU!
Big corporations, lobby groups and private money have infested our political system.
